Journey to the Berlin Marathon

I was recently accepted into the 2023 Berlin Marathon, which feels wild to me for so many reasons.

I had to laugh at myself last week when I realized that I’ve become one of those runners I used to talk about. Yes, I still hate the taste of kale and I’m by no means a professional runner, but I’ve learned a lot about the world of running since then.

When I first started this blog, I had just started a new life in a new place and was working on figuring out who I wanted to be. Fast forward to today and there’s still a lot that I haven’t figured out… and I’m still reminding myself that’s more than okay. I’m working on becoming who I want to be one goal at a time. Six months from now I’ll be in a new country, running through the streets with thousands of people who have at least one goal in common with me.

In some ways this journey to Berlin is also a journey in rediscovering myself. Are you down to come along for the ride?

Let’s get ready for Germany together.

Love and light,

Felecia Shanice ❤

Unafraid Life Lessons – February 2016

I sat down a few days ago and realized that I’ve learned a lot over the last 30ish days. Its easy to just keep moving forward without thinking twice about the past month, but I think its important to take a moment and reflect. So let’s look back, shall we?

600 Miles in 2016: The Under Armour Challenge

As some of you know, a few weeks ago I signed up for Under Armour’s You Vs. Year challenge. The goal? Run 600 miles by midnight on December 31st 2016. I know it sounds crazy. 1000km is  (Or 600 miles for those of us who aren’t about that metric system.) But didn’t I say that I was going to try some crazy things this year? Am I Crazy Enough to Run a Marathon?

I wouldn’t call myself a runner. When I picture runners I think of super athletic people who eat kale for fun, only wear workout clothes and always have some weird-looking health shake in their hand. It’s like they’re ready to drop everything at a moment’s notice and go on a 10-mile run no matter where they are.

That is not me.
