Summer is here, which means the days of flip flops, ice cream cones, and longs walks on the beach are upon us. With a million things to do in the city and only so many summer days to spare, my friends and I decided that we needed a summer bucket list (obviously!). And since any self-respect bucket list means a ton of fun and doesn’t leave you with empty pockets, most of the things on this list are free.
So here’s our list so far in no particular order:
- Walk the Brooklyn Bridge
- Kayaking on the Hudson River
- Brooklyn Museum’s First Saturdays
- Rollerskating
- Photoshoot in Central Park
- Brooklyn Botanical Garden
- Walk the entire High Line
- Go to a gallery opening
- New York Aquarium
- Taste Junior’s Cheesecake
- Start a book club
- Brooklyn Bowl
- Afropunk Festival
- Jones Beach/Fire Island
- Go to a play at Shakespeare in the Park
- Start a book club
- Watch a movie outdoors at the HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival
- Ride the Wonder Wheel on Coney Island
- Try a new food at Smorgasburg
- Run a 5K
- Salsa in the park
- Ride CitiBike through Manhattan
- Buy something unique at a flea market/street fair
- Attend free yoga classes around the city
- Take the train to Rockaway Beach
- Have fun at Summer Streets
- Go to all 5 boroughs
- Visit Governor’s Island
- Find a hidden bar
- Laugh at a new comedy club
- Buy something unique at a flea market/street fair
- Go to a poetry slam
- Visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art
…let the games begin!
P.S. If you know anything that should be here let me know and I’ll add it to the list!
